Custom Hunting & Fishing Retreats in the Ozarks

Lodge-style homes near the trout rivers, bass lakes and hardwood forests around Mountain Home, Arkansas.

A Retreat Built Around the Season

Crownover Company builds custom hunting and fishing retreats in the Arkansas Ozarks, near the White and Norfork rivers, Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes and the hardwood forests around Mountain Home. We design each one around how you spend your days outside, and what you need when you come back in.

Our CEO, Lyle Crownover, is a fifth-generation builder and a 14th-generation native of Baxter County. He grew up on this water and in these woods, and our team knows these rivers, lakes and hills the way only a local builder can. Whether you want a weekend lodge by the lake or a family retreat on acreage, we build it to the same standard.

Trout Water, Bass Lakes and Hardwood Ridges

Mountain Home sits at the center of some of the best fishing and hunting country in Arkansas.

Trout Rivers

The cold water below Bull Shoals and Norfork dams holds rainbow and brown trout and draws anglers from across the country. Our River Run and Denton Ferry residences overlook the White River.

The Lakes

Bull Shoals Lake is known for its bass and walleye, and Norfork Lake for its striped bass. Our Walleye Point and Mallard Point residences sit on the water, with decks built for long evenings outside.

The Woods

Hardwood ridges and hollows that hold whitetail deer and wild turkey. Acreage here suits a private retreat with room for trails, a shop and outbuildings.

What a Crownover Retreat Includes

Every retreat is ultra-custom. These are the spaces our clients ask for most.

Docks, Launches and Boathouses

Boat launches, docks and boathouses planned with the home, wherever the shoreline allows.

Room for the Boat

Garages deep enough for the boat and the trailer, up to a six-car garage for the whole fleet.

Lodge Great Rooms

Vaulted timber ceilings, stone fireplaces and long tables for the crew after a day outside.

Mudrooms and Gear Storage

Mudrooms, drying space and storage by the door, so waders and boots never reach the living room.

What Every Retreat Site Asks of a Builder

The best hunting and fishing land is often the hardest to build on. These are the things we check with you before you commit.

Our Process

01.

Access

Remote land needs a road that concrete trucks and deliveries can use in every season. Long drives, creek crossings and steep grades all shape the plan and the budget.

02.

Utilities

Many retreat sites are far from power and water lines. A well, an engineered septic system and a power run can be significant, so we price them early.

03.

Water Rules

On the lakes, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers decides where private docks can go. On the rivers, flood elevations and dam releases shape where the home can sit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Something not covered here? Call us at (870) 232-0140 or send us a note.

Do you build hunting lodges and fishing retreats?

Yes. We build custom retreats for hunters, anglers and boaters, from a weekend lodge at the lake to a full-time family home on acreage, with docks, boathouses, garages for the boat and gear storage designed in.

Where do you build sportsman’s retreats?

Around Mountain Home and the Twin Lakes Area: on Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes, along the White and Norfork rivers, and on wooded land across Baxter and Marion counties.

Can you build a small weekend retreat?

Yes. Our retreats range from a compact getaway at the lake to a large family lodge. We set the scope and budget with you during the consultation, before any design work begins.

Can I have a private dock or boathouse?

On Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers decides where private docks are allowed, and every dock needs a Corps permit. We check the shoreline rules for your lot before you buy.

Can I build a retreat while living out of state?

Yes, and several of our clients have. Each project has a dedicated project manager and site superintendent, and our client portal shows the schedule, daily progress photos, selections and budget around the clock.
